Medeo is the largest in the world High Mountain Skating Rink. It is situated in the gorge of the same name 1700 meters above the sea level. This really exciting place is surrounded by great, vivid, full of wonderful ancient firs mountain ranges. In the West it is Kimasarskiy range, in the East – Kabyrgatau and in the South–East it is the Kumbel range. The Skating rink was built in 1972 16 km from Almaty. Mild climate, optimal sun radiation level, low pressure, windless weather and ice of clear spring water create the image for Medeo of the best and most beautiful Rink of the world. The square of ice is about 10500 km2, and it is considered to be the best place for open international skating, figure skating and hockey tournaments. On the ice of Medeo 20 world records were held by the most well-known sportsmen of the world. Besides various tournaments everyone has the opportunity to visit the rink in any time since November till March and get pleasure from skating. Don’t be upset if you don’t have your own skates the services of Medeo will offer you to hire the skates for about 200-300 tenge. The entrance for the whole day costs about 500 tenge for adults and 300 tenge for kids.

Moreover the tourists pay attention to the dam that was built in the Valley of Malaya Alamatinka River to protect the city from mudflow. And this dam helped to escape the city fatal mudflow in 1973. We would like to advise you to go up the steps of the dam (there are 830 of them) but the view from the top is perfect, you will see wonderful mountains of Zailiyskiy Alatau with thick forests on their sides and snowy tops and of course forget these 830 step at once.
