English language press
There are a number of local English language and bilingual newspapers in Kazakhstan. All of them cover news in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and touch upon international events.
Most western newspapers and magazines are available at top Almaty hotels, Ramstore (second floor) and by subscription from Agents listed below.

Caspionet: The first in Kazakhstan satellite 24 hour channel is a joint project of Khabar TV channel and Eutelsat, one of the world's largest satellite operators. Hourly news coverage on Kazakhstan, Caspian region, and Central Asia in English, Russian and Kazakh. Channel 11 on Alma TV.

Mir Kino (Cinema World"). Seifullin, south of Kabanbai batyr. The largest in Almaty stock of Russian dubbed movies and a couple dozens English original tapes.
Plus Records. 88 Aiteke bi and Nauryzbai batyr. A good stock of English language movies for sale and rent.
Silk Road. 64 Abylai khan, south of Zhibek Zholy. About 2,400 movies with Korean subtitles for rent and purchase.
