Expatriate Community Groups
Almaty International Women's Club - AIWC - meets every Wednesday morning from 10:30 through 12:30 in the Belvedere Restaurant of the Regent Ankara Hotel. It is an excellent venue for meeting new people, a great source for information, and a solid starting place for getting involved in the community. The Club's activities include Cooking Club, Handicrafts, Hiking Group, Stitch & Bitch etc.
Almaty Cub Scot Pack3975 invites all interested young men ages 7 through 10 to join Cub Pack. Besides regular Den meetings, the Pack also goes hiking, camping, on field trips and sponsors other other fun events. Girl Scouting is a great opportunity for girls to grow and stretsh their wings in a safe and responsible environment The program encourages increased skill building and responsibility, and also promotes the developement of strong leadership and decision-making skills. There five age levels in Girl Scouting: Daisy girl Scouts, ages 6-8; Junior Girl Scouts, ages 8-11; Caddette Girl Scouts, ages 11-14; and Senior Girl Scouts, ages 14-17. All program activities are age0appropriate and all age levels are represented here in Almaty. Hash House Harriers - The HHH meets every Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM in front of Murphy's Bar at the corner of Tole Bi and Zenkova.The HHH has been described as a "drinking group with a running problem." However, non-drinkers, walkers and children are welcome. The HHH is a good excuse for a bit of socializing, some exercise, and a way to see interesting parts of Almaty.
